Under current Victorian building
regulations, a building Surveyor may require the owner of a
development to advise neighbours of the development if damage or
inconvenience is likely to occur.
In some instances the Surveyor may require a dilapidation
surveyor. A dilapidation survey is a photographic record of the
condition of a building. Reference is made to the survey if
disputes arise regarding damaged caused by a neighbouring
development.
Buildcheck regularly acts for owners in completing statutory
Protection Notice Response paperwork (Form 4), interacts with
developers, architects and the Building Surveyor to protect
owners interests and carries out dilapidation surveys.
